Robert T. Hill needs two vacuum cleaners!
Submitted by emarbee on Fri, 10/31/2008 - 20:19.
Howdy neighbors!
This is my first post! I am looking to acquire two working vacuum cleaners for Robert T. Hill Middle School!
They don't have to be pretty, just in working order.
The staff really could use them! I will come to you and pick it or them up.
Thanks so much!

Try the Law offices of Bracewell Giuliani
DISD has lots of money being sucked by Bracewell Giuliani. They have all the resources that the children should have. I am sure that Leigh Ann understands what it is like to need a vacuum, but she is not going to do anything to create a fulfilled need. So my experience is just ask when the suction is.... the Law office that is obliged to represent the liars and incompetent. DISD can not offer the appropriate tools and service the taxpayers need, because the Lawyers need to be paid first.
You may consider asking the PTA to find something at a thrift shop.
Vacuums?
Seriously?
Seriously want to help the school!
Allen,
If you feel my post is a waste of time then why did you waste your time with an unhelpful response?
I help this school in the only way I can. I see a need and I do my best to fill it.
Yes, the staff need two vacuum cleaners. The ones they own have to be taken apart and cleaned before each use because they are so old and run down. If obtaining two vacuum cleaners will make the lives of the maintenance staff easier then what is the problem?
Don't you think if the staff don't have to spend so much time messing with the vacuums that they can do other more productive things? Isn't this ultimately better for our kids?
I don't have much money. I don't have any influence in the chain of command for the school. I am a local community member who wants to help this school out in any way I can!
I heard about this website and I joined to become more informed about my local schools and neighborhood. In my opinion, your comment does nothing to lift us up. It is just mean spirited and sarcastic. Maybe next time I make a post you could contribute something positive to the conversation.

Really?
Actually, I was going to offer to pitch in and buy one of them. I wanted a little bit of background before making the offer--and to know what drove the request.
Maybe somebody else would pitch in and buy the second one.
...but if you feel this is unhelpful, I'll respect your decision.
Really?
Allen,
My apologies. A little more information in your initial response would have been nice! After reading the two other responses to my request I made a hasty assumption and I apologize!
The important thing is the needs of the school staff.
If you are still willing to purchase a vacuum cleaner that would be so helpful! I can pick it up from you or you can take it directly to the school! Ask for Mr. Shavers in the office.
Thanks,

Vacuum Cleaners for Hill
I'll pick one up this weekend and drop it off at the school. Can I get another volunteer to buy one more? I guess, nothing fancy? Just a regular upright?
Yay!
Allen,
That would be great! Thanks so much! I apologize once again and will not be so quick to judge next time. Lesson learned.
Thanks!
The vacuum cleaners need not be anything fancy at all, just working! A regular upright would be fine!
Remember to ask for Mr. Shavers. I believe he is the head of Maintenance for the school.
Thanks

WaytoGo
The Ghoul from NY has hooked up with Bracewell who has hooked up with Moses!
They know where the money is in a down economy! Let's soak the taxpayers for more dough. They'll back any corrupt school district for a small sum.
Meanwhile, Hill needs vacuum cleaners.
What an excellent way to summarize the priorities of Dallas ISD. Campuses go without basic supplies while Hinojosa calls in major guns anytime his joke OPR can't cover his dirty trail.
Get the feeling DISD has nothing to do with the education of kids? It's all just a cover to circulate vast sums among the incompetent, the attorneys, ex-superintendents with their hands still out, dirty athletic programs, and the ability of a board trustee to vote on an ethics policy that grandfathers his firm into continuing to do business with the district.

Contact Custodial Services and ask for area supervisor of Hill middle and they will have this issue taken care of. They will have them repaired or replaced. If you push it you can get new ones. You just have to know whos ear to pull. ,} If you do not get a repsonse then let us know and I will let you know who is the next rung on the ladder.
who's ear to pull
Hey Thanks!
I appreciate the information! Your response was informative and useful! Thank you very much! I will do as you suggest and follow up here just in case anyone is interested!
I don't care about all the political sniping and sarcastic comments made here. I want to directly effect change in a positive way! I don't have the knowledge or power to change the big things but I can do things to make the lives of the staff of this school a little bit easier! That is my goal here!
Thanks again for the information!

Ask the principal to get it
Your principal knows how to get equipment fixed or replaced. Or at least that is in the Job Description. I have tried to change things too, but we all have our viewpoint, and this is a blog regarding the "politics of disd"
I have had to contact the department to remove unused portables that were housing muggers and were the stash point to the loss of $10,000 of stolen equipment taken from the school. I had to spend an entire day of calling to finally get a few people on board to pressure each other, and eventually a week later the job was started, but never finished for a year and a half. If it weren't that people were being mugged a hundred feet from my front door, I would not have tried so desperatly.
Good Luck, and I hope you survive the politics to get working equipment for your school.
Wow! Thanks mom of 2!
Thanks for sharing your experiences with me! Maybe I misunderstood the purpose of this site! Thanks for explaining things to me! I just have to do something to help out! I feel I can get things done a lot quicker than going through the normal channels. These little things that I have done and are doing are just drops in the bucket but step by step we can make things better.
Thanks!
