The "Other" Ron Price
You know, just when you think you have somebody completely figured out, something comes along to throw a wrench in it. After Ron's speech to the Woodrow grads, I wanted to hear what to told other area graduates. So I grabbed a copy of the videotape from Madison High School. What I watched was probably one of the best graduation speeches I have ever heard.
We're having some technical difficulties (yes, even I have technical difficulties from time to time), but will try to get the speech online in the next few days.
Ron is somewhat of an enigma. I've always gotten the distinct impression he cares about kids, and wants success for everyone. He just doesn't seem to go about it in the right way. He's (as mom used to say) "fallen in with the wrong crowd." As Ron knows, everyone does things that are forgivable. I just wonder if he's done something that is not reversible.
At any rate, we'll bring you Ron's segment as soon as I can get it dubbed.
Note to me: next time, request DVD's from the DISD--not videotapes!

Is there a Clone?
I am fairly sure that there is only one Ron Price. You seem have a much greater interest in him than I do so maybe you shade in the areas about him that I am unaware of... Here is what I can piece together.
The Dallas Morning News reported that his occupation is as an educational consultant. He is also a school board member in Dallas.
The Dallas Morning News also reported that he has some travel and some cell phone expenses paid for in part by the district.
As an educational consultant he has to travel to educational conferences to ply his trade. But he also gets to travel to them as a school board member interested in bringing back services traded their for the betterment of the district he represents.
In a nutshell, I am saying that he has the appearance of being a double dipper. He uses his public position and funds to move his private enterprise forward.
It seems the question is when does that cross the line?
Off the tip of my tongue I would name Joe Barton and Kent Grusendorf as two of the most sold out politicians in Metroplex.
That aside, I may like to change my screenname to Crackpot after floating this bit of scuttlebutt.
Here is the scam as I understand it. The City of Dallas gives money to developers to build low income housing in South Dallas to increase low income homeownership. (Some of this money must be Federal or the FBI would not be here.) That is a good thing, here is where it starts to wrong. The developers that get the contracts build low quality houses but bill top rate prices. It is profit and is not illegal. The real kicker is that that houses are not sold to low income folks to live in, they are sold to corporations that will rent them back the government through section 8 vouchers, at a rate greater than the rent is actually worth. (It seems that there is a tacit understanding about that.)
It makes a ton of money. It is legal, but it would really suck if someone would expose it for what it is. That is where brown envelopes with money inside come into play. If a local politician doesn't turn a blind eye to the sell out, the plan could fail.
It is a crackpot theory, but see if it works.
